We Want To Help You

The Springfield Area Children’s Upstream Services (CUPS), a program of HCRS,  provides mental health services to families with children ages birth through six who are at risk for or experiencing behavioral problems. We also provide services to  pregnant or parenting women, under age 23, with a mental health diagnosis. CUPS providers work closely with parents and teachers to understand children’s behaviors and find ways to address challenges. We support families to build the parent-child relationship. Services offered include family, group and individual play therapy sessions and may use movement, drama and other creative arts modalities. Parent counseling, service coordination and consultation services are also offered to families and professionals who work in early childhood. CUPS therapists are currently offering regular groups in six classrooms (and four towns) including our Emotional Literacy program and Movement Therapy groups. CUPS collaborates with other community partners to support families with young children. We are currently working with the Healthy Babies and Family Infant Toddler (FITP) programs to develop services that are better integrated for families.

The CUPS program encourages families to use services in a preventative way, when possible. Contact CUPS if you have questions, before things rise to a problem status. Clinicians are able to provide consultation and training services to families and early childhood providers through a special Medicaid funding stream that aims to act in a preventative way and does not require a family to fully engage in services as a client. We can be available to preschool and daycare providers to make observations and recommendations on individual or classroom concerns.

Please call the CUPS team at  802-886-4500 or e-mail connection@hcrs.org to make a referral or request consultation.
